As with many great things, they start with a random thought. Not sure why but earlier today I was wondering about the idea to sell raffle tickets in order for a chance to get a limited beer. I decided to pose the question on my twitter account (@FromMyMellin) and I got a few responses:
None of the responses surprised me greatly as they are all from very educated people and great craft beer lovers.
Personally, for beer stores and breweries as recent news has show us, the decision of how to manage a limited release is not an easy one and is always met with those who disagree with it.
I feel the idea of a raffle would be most fair with money going to a charity, the store or brewery shouldn’t profit of such a raffle. In my view the rules would be simple: $1 a ticket, no limit on tickets and must be over 21 to purchase a ticket and limit of one bottle per winner, cannot win multiple times.
I am curious to see what others think so share your thoughts in the comments below and I look forward to the discussion.
And that’s … From My Mellin!
